The versatility of neutral tones makes them a key Summer staple for any wardrobe. With such a great selection of sandals this season in classic neutral shades, fashion expert Alyson Walsh picks out her Hotter favourites and shares her tips on how to style them.
Alyson says…
No matter how many fashion magazines tell me that ‘pool sliders’ are the ultimate style for summer, you will not catch me outside the swimming pool in a pair of plastic shoes. To me, slipping into neutral – whether that’s tan, white or metallic leather – is the ultimate in hot weather chic. There’s a time and a place for man-made, post-workout shoes and it ain’t in public on a scorching hot summer day. And, I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that tan leather sandals have been around for centuries, this was the footwear of choice of the Ancient Greeks and Romans, after all – and you can’t get more classic than that.
Easy-to-wear neutral shades look effortlessly stylish and subtle, and, best of all, they go with everything. From nautical-inspired Breton stripes and wide leg linen trousers to a floral summer dress, the new neutral sandals make light work of getting dressed. Wondering what to wear with an all-white holiday outfit? Just add a pair of white (or tan) Resort sandals.
Opting for khaki, animal print or a safari-style shirtdress, around town? Go for metallic Sun sandals. Slipping into an oversized striped shirt and white jeans for evening drinks? Just add the tan Verbena wedge. These neutral sandals are comfortable, practical and hassle-free. Guaranteed to simplify a summer day, and leave you feeling so relaxed, you might even want to add a straw shopping basket to complete the Mediterranean holiday look – at home or abroad.
