The story of our wonderful friends The Calendar Girls has been made into a fabulous new musical ‘The Girls’, written by none other than Gary Barlow and Tim Firth. To celebrate the West End launch, a donation of £2 will go to Bloodwise* for all tickets bought through the link below during September, which is Blood Cancer Awareness Month.
The Girls, based on the true story, the film and the award-winning play will open in London’s West End at the Phoenix Theatre, in January. This musical comedy shows life in their Yorkshire village, how the calendar happened, the effect on husbands, sons and daughters, and how a group of ordinary ladies achieved something extraordinary.
These fabulous ladies have raised over £4 million for the charity Bloodwise, and the message the girls have shared has remained constant, with the strength of friendship helping overcome the tragedy of the loss of a loved one to blood cancer. We’re delighted to have played a small part in their story.
We met the Original Calendar Girls over ten years ago when we managed to persuade them to pose for a photo wearing nothing but Hotter! The shot, recreated here with the Original Calendar Girls wearing nothing but Hotter Originals, was the start of a long lasting relationship with these amazing ladies which has seen us work together on sponsored walks, customer events and even the opening of our factory!

Meet the Hotter Originals!
This season fall back in love with our Hotter Originals; handpicked by our Founder Stewart Houlgrave as the much-loved styles that are the true embodiment of our Comfort Concept®.
“Comfort and style … these are the twin foundations of our brand and from the moment I launched Hotter, to the collection we have today, they underpin everything we do,” explained Stewart.
“They have been made in our British factory so their soles are filled with millions of air bubbles making them incredibly lightweight; these same bubbles create a cushion under feet and offer support as you walk.
Our wonderful Originals, worn by the Original Calendar Girls from left to right – Sugar; Mystery; Jewel; Tone; Shake and Pixie.

Our Calendar Girls’ memories
Sponsored walks in Hotter shoes
We worked with the Calendar Girls and Leukaemia Research (now Bloodwise) on a series of sponsored walks at our stores in Chester, Bournemouth and Southport.
Opening our Leeds store
Who better to open our Hotter store in Leeds than some local celebrities – the crowd loved meeting our lovely friends.
To Russia in comfort
When the Calendar Girls went to the premier of the stage show in Russia they needed warm and comfortable boots to wear – so we had to help them out!
Opening our factory
In 2003 we opened the biggest shoe making factory opened in the UK since the 1970s – and there’s not been another opened since. We were delighted the Calendar Girls could join us.
