  1. Fashion and trends dont interest me, I just wear what I like and feels comfortable.

At colour me beautiful our aim is to find solutions that work for you, individually to ensure you look radiant and stylish. This doesn’t mean you have to follow the latest trends, in fact, it’s the opposite. It’s about finding a signature style that is unique to you.

  1. Ill be told I have to change my hair colour/cut/style.

Part of your style consultation includes an analysis of your face shape and advice on the best hair colour and style to suit you. Your consultant will also take into consideration your lifestyle and style personality in order to make recommendations that will not only look great, but that you will be thrilled to wear.

We would never advise a client to change their hair if they love how it looks but we may recommend some small tweaks to the colour or style to make you look even more fabulous!

  1. Ill have to arrive without make-up – and I NEVER leave the house without make-up!

Whilst part of the consultation requires your consultant to look at your natural skin tone in daylight you do not have to arrive for your consultation without make-up.

If you would prefer you can arrive for your appointment without make-up and your consultant will cleanse your skin during your session. You will then have a natural, daytime make- up applied during your appointment so you’ll leave fully made-up too!

  1. Ill have to wear white for my consultation.

You can wear whatever clothes/colours you’d like for your consultation. When it comes to analysing your colouring your consultant will place a white draping cape around your shoulders to provide a blank canvas to work from.

  1. What if Im told not to wear my gold/silver jewellery anymore as it doesn’t suit me?

During your colour session you will find out whether you have a warm or cool undertone and this can help guide you as to what types of metal may be best for you to wear in your jewellery.

Colours have the biggest impact when worn next to our face, so if your wedding band is gold, but your undertone is cool (which would suit a silver metal better) this isn’t going to be cause for concern or a trip to the jewellers! However, if you are wearing a metal that isn’t ideal for your undertone your consultant may suggest that you mix your precious metals and stones moving forwards.

  1. Ill have to buy all the make-up as part of the session.

During your session your consultant will apply a natural, daytime make-up to demonstrate how to translate your colour guidelines into your daily make-up routine.

We’re confident you will adore your make-up once you see the results but there is absolutely no obligation to buy anything on the day. You can contact your consultant after your session or even buy online if you decide you would like to at a later date.

  1. The colour me beautiful colour system is complicated, Id prefer to be a ‘season.

The latest colour me beautiful colour system is our simplest and easy-to-use to date.

Our current system is shared with the hairdressing industry as well as many others who deal in colour (e.g. motoring and decorating) this system allows us to be much more specific with the colours we recommend for you, and how you should wear them than the old ‘seasonal’ categories.

By looking at the depth, undertone and clarity of your natural colouring we assign you a dominant colour category as well as a secondary and tertiary category – this gives you a palette of 42 different colours! We then provide simple guidelines for how you can combine your colours to the best possible effect. Notes are provided with your swatch wallet to take away as an easy reference tool when you’re shopping. What could be easier than that!

We all have a sense of style – we just need to discover it!

  1. All personal stylists are based in London – but I dont live anywhere near!

We have over 200 consultants based around the UK from Orkney down to the South Coast.

Simply use our consultant search tool to find a consultant in your area or give our Head Office a call.

Pop your post code into our search tool to find your local consultant today here.

  1. Ill be told I have to wear pashminas and brooches – no thanks!

Your consultant will tailor the advice she gives you based on your style personality. If you don’t like the fuss of accessories then no problem!

There are plenty of other ways to bring colour and personality to your wardrobe.

You will discuss these with your consultant during your session and be given lots of ideas and advice to inspire your new look!

  1. Ill have to strip to my underwear to have my body shape analysed.

There are no scary 360 degree mirrors during a colour me beautiful consultation! Your consultant will assess your body shape whilst you are fully clothed but may ask you take off any very loose or bulky items so they can see your shape a little better.

Simply wear a vest underneath your outfit and this will be sufficient for your consultant to be able to accurately assess your body shape.

  1. My husband has just retired and doesnt know how to dress in anything other than a suit – do you have any services that could help him?

Retiring is a huge lifestyle change and it’s only natural that your husband may be finding it difficult to navigate a new way of dressing now he’s retired.

One of our ‘Colour for Men’ gift packages is the first step towards his new image.

During the consultation, he will be shown what his best colours are and how to combine shades for his casual wardrobe. He will receive a handy wallet containing at least 42 fabric swatches as a reminder of what his best colours are plus our published book on men’s im- age for further reading. These are invaluable tools to use when clothes shopping or just to familiarise himself with a range of colours that work for him.

  1. Im worried Ill be told to go to shops which are outside my price range and wont be able to find anything within my budget thats in the right colours.

As part of your consultation your consultant will find out all about you, where you love to shop and the budget you have to spend on clothes. Using this information your consultant will then recommend the best places to go to find clothes in the right colours and styles to suit you.

Whatever your budget, our consultants have extensive knowledge of the high street and where to find the best clothing options for different colour categories and body shapes.

You’ll leave with a list of shops to explore that will meet all your colour and style needs and will be within your budget.

  1. Im a 30-something office worker and would like advice from someone my own age so they really understand and inspire me. All your consultants are older than me.

We have consultants aged from early 30’s through to mid-60’s and every age in-between. They are all from different backgrounds and have different life experiences, have worked in different industries and some have other businesses that compliment their work as personal stylists.

We’re confident you will find a consultant who will meet your needs. All have been expertly trained in colour and style analysis and all of them have their own unique personal style and approach – this gives you the flexibility to select someone who you feel is right for you.

Most of our consultants have their own websites, Facebook accounts and Twitter/Pinterest pages so you can have a little look at these and read about them before you get in touch – they’re a friendly bunch and are waiting for your call!

  1. Why would I need a personal stylist? Im not a celebrity!

Having a personal stylist will save you time, effort, money and a lot of heartache.

The reason many celebrities have stylists is because they know how difficult it can be select clothes and outfits that look great, every time. By investing in an expert you will receive advice and gain in valuable knowledge, meaning that whether you’re at the office, on the school run or at a special occasion you will always look your best and feel fabulous!

  1. There are so many companies who offer colour analysis now – they all do the same thing.

colour me beautiful consultants are highly trained and know their stuff inside out – we have been in the industry for 35 years and our methods and techniques have stood the test of time for a reason!

The key point of difference about colour me beautiful is that we teach you how to wear colour successfully (NOT dictate what you should/shouldn’t wear). We are progressive rather than prescriptive.

  1. I don’t want to be caked in make-up during my consultation, I prefer a natural look.

Many of our clients are astonished at the natural look we can achieve because we use exactly the right colours to do your make-up.

We don’t use heavy foundations, black mascaras or thick powders. Our aim when we make you up is to enhance your natural characteristics so you look like you – at your absolute best!

  1. Id prefer to have something like this done with a friend or family member, I dont want to come alone.

If a 1-2-1 approach isn’t for you that’s no problem! You can book in for a joint consultation with a friend or hold a colour or style party in the comfort of your own home! Get in touch with your local consultant to discuss the options they have available – they will ensure you feel comfortable and at ease whatever option you go for.

  1. colour me beautiful is just another big corporate organisation who want my money and dont care about me as an individual.

Rather than being a big corporate organisation we are actually a small team of like-minded men and women aged from early 30’s through to early 60’s. We have a variety of backgrounds and skills that we bring into the mix and we all have one thing in common – a passion for helping women (and men) look and feel their absolute best every day.

We have a base in Preston but our managers all work remotely and are based across the UK.

We’re close-knit, passionate and love our jobs. Most of our Managers also work as consultants meaning they have a great understanding of your needs and what is involved in order to deliver a great colour me beautiful experience.

  1. I don’t need to know my body shape or colours, black is slimming so I just stick to that.

Whilst it’s true that black can be great for hiding lumps and bumps better than lighter colours, there are many other ways to cleverly conceal or draw attention away from the bits you’d rather people didn’t focus on. As well as showing you how to dress to flatter your body shape we would also recommend alternatives to black that would work in harmony with your colouring such as navies, browns, pine greens, burgundies etc. These darker shades will be just as slimming as black but may work better to make the very best of you!

Prints, draping fabrics, and creating vertical lines are all other options for slimming down your shape. Not only that, but when you dress to suit your body shape you’ll be concentrating on showing off your best assets and making them the focus of your look rather than worrying about your wobbly bits!

  1. Id like to have a colour and/or style session but need to lose weight before I can have it done.

Don’t put off looking and feeling fabulous by waiting to lose weight – contact your local consultant today!

Understanding what colours and styles of clothes work best for you will boost your confidence and make you feel better about your body and image overall. Your consultant will also be able to guide you on how to dress in the most flattering what to appear slimmer if this is your goal.

If you lose a vast amount of weight and feel you need your body shape re-analysed your local consultant will be happy to hold a refresher session for you to ensure your clothes and style are reflective of the ‘new you’.

  1. I think a colour analysis will stress me out – itll restrict me to which colours I can and cant wear so Ill always be worried about getting it right.

When you come for a full colour consultation you will be carefully guided through which colours work best for you and why.

You will spend around and hour and a half with your consultant exploring your colours and looking at how to combine them for different aspects of your life. You will also discuss your existing wardrobe and how to combine colours you already have.

The colour me beautiful system is very simple to understand and at the end of your session you will take away a 42 colour swatch wallet containing all you colours to refer back to. Your consultant will also make notes for you to take away too.

There is also a wealth of resources available to you after you consultation in the form of our colour me beautiful books, website and social media accounts (you can find us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest).

We also have a great little iPhone App which you can download for just 99p! This clever tool allows you to input your dominant colour category and then take pictures of clothes whilst you’re shopping to make sure they fit into your colour palette!

Rather than being restricted, a whole world of colour will open up to you – you’ll never look back!
