Back to school shoes tried and tested

Mummy blogger Michelle Pannell’s son JJ started wearing a pair of Hotter shoes for school in January. In her blog, MummyFromThe Heart, she wrote seven months later:

“JJ’s Hotter shoes lasted him right to the end of the term and I’d be sending him back to school in them if it wasn’t for the fact that his feet have grown again!”

Here’s the highlights of JJ’s back to school shoes  journey ….

A real school test for Hotter shoes

Michelle, who is a Hotter fan, approached us in January wondering if her son could review and test drive a pair of our men’s shoes, she wrote: “I knew that a pair of Hotter shoes for my 12 year old JJ would be a good bet. He is also heavy-footed like me and at a size 8-9 already it is getting expensive to keep kitting him out in men’s shoes. Hotter men’s shoes are available from a size 6 to 12 as standard and many are available in half-sizes. Most shoes are standard fit (which is F-G) but many of their styles have clever dual fit technology and you can remove the inner sock to give a roomier G-H fitting. It is these little touches that make Hotter shoes fabulous.”

Stylish enough for a 12-year-old?

“When I told JJ we were going to go to a Hotter store and choose him some new school shoes he was a little concerned and he thought they might just do ‘old men’ styles (his words) but he was really pleased when he looked around and saw lots of different styles that he liked. In fact he ended up wanting a couple of pairs as he saw styles that would suit casual wear too.”

Waterproof comfort for the school run

“Considering JJ has to walk to the school bus each day and our back road regularly floods I was thrilled to find a pair of shoes that have the GORE-TEX® technology membrane inside, as these make the shoes waterproof. I also noticed these shoes have an extra padded collar to ensure that JJ does not get any more blisters from rubbing at the back of his heels.”

Four months later …

“I didn’t realise that JJ had taken me quite so seriously when I asked him to put them through their paces and give them a really good try out. Apparently he even went wading in the sea at the youth club treasure hunt the other week and yes these shoes with GORE-TEX(R) technology really are waterproof (thankfully). But then he already knew that as his daily walk to the school bus is often down a flooded back road and he wades straight through the mud and water.”

And at the end of the summer term Michelle and JJ’s report was …

Thanks to Michelle Pannell at www.mummyfromtheheart.com for letting us reproduce some of the story she published in her blog- and to JJ, of course, who put his Venture shoes through their paces! Discover JJ’s full review here …

And the April update …

JJ was given a pair of our GORE-TEX® Venture shoes for his school test – we’ll be welcoming him back in September to try out another pair.

Venture is a hard wearing  Hotter classic, and because it has a moulded sole made from durable polyurethane which is filled with millions of air bubbles, it is much lighter than you imagine – making it perfect for school days.

Venture is hard wearing on the outside, but light and cushioned on the inside.
