It's that time of the year when the leaves start to fall, there's a chill in the air and we start to indulge in all things warm and cosy which is why, with the help of some lovely bloggers, we've created a series of posts celebrating this beautiful season.
In our first winter walks post parent blogger Hannah, daughter Martha and son Toby share their love for exploring the great outdoors and why women's boot Whisper is the perfect companion.
Part of what I adore about living in the countryside, is getting out for walks in beautiful surroundings, whatever the weather. In my day job I'm a smart trousers and heels kinda gal, but at home with my family I want to look nice while also having the comfort and practicality to go out. We get out of the house every single day, come rain or shine, so when the colder months hit we don’t shy away from getting out on a nice walk.
I love the transition between the seasons and I find the autumn to winter months so serene and beautiful. Fallen red and orange leaves, pine cones, snow, starry evenings, puddles; there's so much around to enjoy and explore. My two kids are real outdoorsy types too, by far preferring the fresh air to their multitude of toys! My son Toby is 3 and has recently developed a love of taking photos, so it's lots of fun to let him loose snapping away as we walk. He is so keen on taking close-up pictures, but is getting pretty good with portraits too! Here are some gems that he took on our recent wintry walk:
I think I have a budding photographer in that one! We also really like to pick up leaves, cones, acorns, sticks, and anything else that we can use to make some nice collections or decorations for the house - there’s nothing like bringing the outdoors in, especially when you’re sat in from of the fire after a stroll around the fields and farms that we’re so lucky to be surrounded by.
I feel so comfortable in winter clothing, wrapped up in a nice warm shawl and my winter boots. Then we can get the kids kitted out and just embrace everything that we're lucky enough to have right on our doorstep, no matter what the weather throws at us! So this winter, we’ll be heading out for walks in the woods, down country lanes, over fields, down cobbled streets, and kicking crunchy leaves to embrace the utter delight of a crisp and beautiful winter day with the family. My Whisper boots will be on my feet and I’ll have a smile on my face as I watch Toby and Martha explore together, hand-in-hand, before running back to us with their newfound treasures and stories. It’s a truly magical time of year and I really hope that the kids continue to love our family walks as much as my husband and I do.
